Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
Dictovox is built so that your privacy is not a promise we make — it is how the product works. Speech recognition runs entirely on your computer. This page explains exactly what data the app touches and what it doesn't.
What Dictovox does not collect
- Your voice. Audio is captured, transcribed, and discarded on your device. It is never uploaded, stored on a server, or shared with anyone — including us.
- Your transcripts. The text produced from your speech stays on your computer.
- Analytics or telemetry. The app contains no analytics, tracking, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.
- Accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile.
When the app uses the network
Dictovox connects to the internet in only these cases:
- One-time speech model download. On first run, the app downloads the open-source speech-recognition model (about 141 MB) from our content delivery server, with the official Hugging Face repository as a fallback. This is a plain file download; no personal data is sent beyond what any web request technically includes (such as your IP address, which we do not log or retain).
- License activation. If you purchase a license, the app may contact our payment provider's servers to validate your license key. See "Purchases" below.
After the model is downloaded, day-to-day dictation requires no network connection at all — you can use Dictovox with Wi-Fi turned off.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Stripe, our merchant of record. When you buy Dictovox, Stripe collects the information needed to process the payment (such as your email address and payment details) under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details so we can deliver your license key and provide support. We do not see or store your payment card information.
Support email
If you contact us for support, we receive whatever you choose to send (your email address and message). We use it only to help you and keep it only as long as needed to do so.
Data stored on your computer
Dictovox stores its settings, the downloaded speech model, and (if purchased) your license key locally on your machine. Uninstalling the app removes it; you can delete these files at any time.
Children
Dictovox is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above. Because the app collects nothing, changes are expected to be rare and editorial.
